Reed Abraham was appointed to the Whisper Lake HOA Board of Directors in 2024. He and his wife, Laura, have three children—Strickland (age 12), Mary Grace (age 10), and Wit (age 4)—and are proud to call Whisper Lake home. As active members of the neighborhood, the Abrahams appreciate the welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere that makes this community a great place to live and raise a family.
Reed serves as the State Fire Coordinator for Mississippi, a role he assumed in 2024 following his appointment by Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Chaney. In this position, he oversees the readiness and capability of over 800 fire departments across the state, manages the state’s fire safety education programs, and administers the Rural Fire Truck Acquisition Assistance Program. Reed joined the State Fire Marshal’s Office in 2023 as the Deputy State Fire Coordinator.
He brings over two decades of experience to the role, beginning with his service in the Bolivar County Volunteer Fire Department in 2000, where he rose to the position of County Deputy Fire Chief before retiring in 2023. He is a certified volunteer firefighter, fire instructor, and an active member of the Mississippi Firefighters and Fire Chiefs Associations.
Prior to joining the Mississippi Insurance Department, Reed spent more than 15 years working in higher education administration, fundraising, and marketing at both two- and four-year institutions in Mississippi. He also taught and authored together more than 20 college courses, primarily in business administration. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Delta State University.
Reed joined the Board of Directors in service to his neighbors with a focus on making Whisper Lake the best place for everyone to live and raise a family.
